The event is staged from the Nisswa Community Center. The 5K Color Run and kids 1K start there on the Friday; the 10K, half marathon, marathon and marathon relay start from the same venue on the Saturday.

Run for the Lakes is an all-volunteer run race is organized from start to finish by the Brainerd Jaycees and carried out with the support of over 100 members of the community and several local businesses. All proceeds from Run for the Lakes are donated to various non-profits.
