Both races are out-and-backs over the Eau Gallie Causeway and the Indian River, starting at the Eau Gallie Civic Center, 1551 Highland Avenue, Melbourne. Both are certified road courses, the 10K carrying USATF certification FL22006JK. The 10K starts at 7:00 AM and the 2 Mile at 8:30 AM.

The Eye of the Dragon 10K is a long-running Melbourne, Florida road race climbing out and back over the Eau Gallie Causeway across the Indian River. A Tail of the Lizard 2 Mile runs alongside it, and entrants may enter both as the Slay the Beast challenge.
