The Fukuchiyama Marathon, now in its 34th year, follows the Yura River through the rice paddies and mountain villages of inland Kyoto Prefecture before turning back near Oe Town. JAAF-certified with 53 metres of elevation gain, the course caps around 5,400-6,000 runners across the marathon and 10km distances, with a short steep rise before the Misugike Park finish.
