Backyard ultra format: a 6.71 km loop around Herdsman Lake started on the hour, every hour, until one runner remains; 24 loops equals 100 miles. One manned aid station sits at the transition area beside the start line each lap, stocked with water, electrolyte drink, cola, crisps, lollies and hot soup overnight.

Herdy's Frontyard Ultra is a last one standing endurance event where runners tackle a 6.71km loop on the hour, every hour until only 1 runner remains. Once all except the last runner fails to complete a lap within cut off, the final competitor must complete a solo lap within cut off to be crowned the winner.
