Course
An out-and-back on the High Bridge Trail State Park rail trail, starting from the Plaza in downtown Farmville. The surface is packed crushed gravel, wide and close to level throughout. The half marathon crosses the historic High Bridge twice — nearly half a mile long and 125 feet above the Appomattox River. Four water stations serve the course.

This half marathon and 5K run along High Bridge Trail State Park near Farmville, a rail-trail that crosses the Appomattox River on a former railroad trestle once used during the 1865 Civil War retreat to Appomattox. The route follows the old rail bed through forest and farmland.
