Course
A 40-mile mountain ultra crossing the Roaring Plains and Dolly Sods Wilderness in the Monongahela National Forest, taking in Timberline resort and Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge. Runners cross woodland paths, ancient sphagnum bogs and rocky, boulder-filled plains with stunted trees and mountaintop meadows.

Highlands Sky is a 40-mile trail race in West Virginia's high country, organized by the West Virginia Mountain Trail Runners. The point-to-point course crosses Dolly Sods and other remote, rugged terrain in the Monongahela National Forest, one of the toughest ultra distances in the East.
