Course
Starts and finishes at the covered BBQ area at Boulder Beach on Lake Mead. The course climbs steadily on a wide roadway, joins the paved River Mountains Loop Trail, then follows the hard-packed dirt Historic Railroad Tunnel Trail through several old railway tunnels. Roughly 14 miles of the marathon and 7 of the half are on packed dirt; road shoes are recommended.

The Hoover Dam Marathon follows the closed historic highway that once carried traffic to the dam, tracing the edge of Lake Mead through the Mojave Desert outside Boulder City, Nevada. Marathon, half marathon, 10K, 5K and relay distances all finish near the dam.
