Point-to-point marathon from the Lost Goldmine Trailhead near Gold Canyon to Prospector Park in Apache Junction, with the first six miles on unpaved desert road and the rest paved, descending a net 490 ft. The half marathon and 10K are paved out-and-backs from Prospector Park; the 8K trail run crosses off-road desert terrain.

The Lost Dutchman Marathon is held on Martin Luther King Jr. weekend in Apache Junction, Arizona, alongside a half marathon, 10K, 8K trail run and a Saturday two-mile fun run. The USATF-certified, Boston-qualifying marathon is capped at 400 runners and descends from the Lost Goldmine Trailhead to Prospector Park.
