The Kristallmarathon starts at the Erlebnis Bergwerk Merkers, a former potash mine in Thuringia famed for its underground crystal grotto. Runners can choose the 10km, half marathon or full marathon distance through the Werra valley countryside around Krayenberggemeinde.
