Point-to-point across Madeira from Porto Moniz on the north-west coast to Machico in the east, 115 km with around 7,000 m of climbing, crossing the island's central ridge and Pico Ruivo, its highest point. Steep levada paths, stone steps and exposed ridgelines; the descents hurt as much as the climbs.

MIUT, the Madeira Island Ultra-Trail, crosses Madeira from Porto Moniz in the northwest to Machico in the east, taking in the islands highest peaks including Pico Ruivo and Pico do Areeiro. The flagship 115km race carries over 7,000m of climbing, with 85km, marathon and shorter options on the same April weekend.
