The Mt. Hiei International Trail Run climbs the slopes of Mt. Hiei above Lake Biwa in Shiga Prefecture, home to the Enryaku-ji temple and the legendary 'marathon monks' who once ran its trails as a religious practice. Distances range from 23km up to a full 50-mile mountain course.
