Nelson Mandela Marathon

Course

Starts in Strand Street in central Cape Town, heads out to the Atlantic seaboard and back through the Foreshore, then out towards Milnerton before finishing on the Grand Parade. Robben Island is in view for much of the route. Marathon, half marathon, 10km and 5km run/walk distances are offered.

The Nelson Mandela Marathon is an inaugural marathon launching in Cape Town in 2026 as part of a new global running series honouring Nelson Mandela's legacy, bringing runners from around the world to the city for its debut edition.
