About

The Ottonenlauf is a nature experience. It leads from the 3 Harz towns of Stiege, Alexisbad and Meisdorf mainly over forest and forestry roads, with partly rustic character, through the Selketal in the Harz to the common finish in the UNESCO World Heritage City of Quedlinburg. The road section on the long distance is just under 10 km. The runners/walkers pass through or touch 13 villages or settlements between Stiege and Quedlinburg, including Güntersberge, Straßberg, Silberhütte, Alexisbad, Mägdesprung, Meisdorf, Ballenstedt, Gernrode and Bad Suderode. It partly runs along the Selketalbahn, past 11 Harz ponds, 2 castles, cliff faces with a magnificent view of the valley, and through 2 rock tunnels. A stable swing has been installed by friendly people about halfway along the route to relax tired hikers and runners. Numerous small and medium-sized climbs have to be overcome. Most of the route is densely forested and very shady.

A confirmed date shows its day; a provisional one shows only its month, because we won't claim a day we don't have. This page is rebuilt every night from the RunCalendar catalogue.
