Loop from the waterfront in the city centre, over the Tromsø Bridge to the mainland and back, then along the island shoreline roads. Sealed roads throughout; the bridge, at 43 m, is the only climb.

Tromsø's midsummer street race, run on a Saturday night 350 km north of the Arctic Circle under a sun that never sets. The marathon starts and finishes on the city-centre waterfront and crosses the Tromsø Bridge twice, with a half marathon, 10 km, 4.2 km mini marathon and kids' race sharing the night. The world's northernmost AIMS-certified marathon, first run in 1990.
