Course
Out-and-back on Coast Highway 101, starting at South Coast Highway 101 and West D Street in downtown Encinitas; runners head out in the southbound lanes and return to finish beneath the Encinitas sign. The 10K turns around at South Cardiff State Beach. Paved road with a gradual downhill start; the course closes two hours in, at 9:20 AM.

The Kook Run is a 10K and 5K road race on Coast Highway 101 in Encinitas, California, passing the Cardiff Kook statue. Around 2,500 runners take part, with an elite 10K carrying a $3,000 prize purse, a kids' Junior Kook dash the day before, and a finish festival at Moonlight Plaza.
