Course
All races start from the Big Sky Resort base area and climb into the mountains around Lone Peak. The 11K, 21K, 28K and 50K use wave starts, and the vertical kilometre is run as a separate climb. The distances are spread across a four-day schedule.

The Rut Mountain Runs take place at Big Sky Resort in Montana, sending trail runners up steep, technical scree slopes toward Lone Peak. Distances range from 11K to 50K, plus the punishing Lone Peak vertical kilometer, on some of the toughest mountain terrain in the U.S.
