Course
Trail courses on the Crater Rim tracks above Christchurch, following the rim of the old Lyttelton volcano across Banks Peninsula with views over the harbour and out to the plains. Aid stations are placed throughout, and the shorter distances use sections of the same ridge route.

The Crater Rim Ultra Trail Run in Christchurch on 18 October 2026 offers a variety of courses and distances to suit all abilities. The event attracts interest from outside Christchurch and is a popular build-up to the Kepler Challenge in early December. Many competitors return for the challenge and the scenic nature of the course which overlooks both the Canterbury Plains and Lyttelton Harbour.
