Course
All distances are run as out-and-back loops on the flat, USATF-certified Dismal Swamp Canal Trail. The 50K covers four loops of 3.88 miles each way; the marathon is two loops of 6.55 miles each way and the half marathon one. Full aid stations sit at the start/finish after every loop, with extra water stops on course. The time limit is 9 hours.

The Tidewater Strider Dismal Swamp races run on the flat Dismal Swamp Canal Trail in Chesapeake. Runners choose the 50K, marathon, or half marathon, each completed as multiple loops or out-and-back segments. A 50K relay and wheelchair/handcycle divisions are also offered.
