Course
Not a fixed course: runners set off from HMP Dartmoor and choose their own route across the moor, with the aim of getting as far from the prison as possible - measured as the crow flies - within their chosen time. Entrants must stay on public rights of way and keep clear of bird nesting areas. Three formats are offered: 6 hours, 12 hours and 24 hours. There are no aid stations; runners arrange their own support.

The Dartmoor Prison Break Ultra Challenge is an exciting running event that takes place across the rugged and scenic Dartmoor National Park. Participants will escape from the legendary Dartmoor Prison and navigate through the stunning moorland landscape, testing their endurance and determination. The event is organized and run by the local Dartmoor Search & Rescue Team Plymouth, with proceeds going to support their volunteer efforts.
