All courses start and finish at Patonga Wharf on the NSW Central Coast, using sections of the Great North Walk and other trails in Brisbane Water National Park. The 50km is an out-and-back with a checkpoint at Girrakool Picnic Area plus drink stations at Dillons Firetrail and Tommos Loop. Surface is mostly single track and gravel road with a short sealed section.

The Great North Walk Trail Running Festival is held at Patonga on the NSW Central Coast, with 50km, 30km and 10km courses. All events start and finish at Patonga Wharf and follow sections of the Great North Walk and other trails in Brisbane Water National Park. The terrain is single track and fire trail with steep climbs and creek crossings.
